一つのヤマで長く採炭していると、天井が比較的よいヤマでも、

高バレといって、天井が崩落し空洞ができることがありました。

描かれているように補修しますが、坑木がたくさん必要な上、積み上げる技術も必要でした。

また、危険な作業だったので、女性の後山（あとやま）ではなく、男性二人組で作業をしていたそうです。

 

 

 

 

After mining coal was lasted long at a pit, roofs sometimes fell greatly and cavities were made even though the roofs of slopes in the pit were in relatively good condition.

They supported the roof of such a cavity with the shown cribbing like this.

However, such a supportunit required lots of timbers and technique to build.

It was also a dangerous work to build it and the work was reportedly not done by a pair of repairers including a female Atoyama, or helper, but by a pair of male repairers.
