描かれているのは、明治30年代に麻生山内炭坑に設置されていた排気塔です。
高さ15メートルほどのものだったそうです。
坑内の蒸気ポンプから吹き出る蒸気の排出も手伝いましたが、基本的にはファンなどを使わない自然排気でした。
左の円の中に描かれているのは坑内の空気の流れを調節する仕組みです。
The chimney illustrated in this painting is the exhaust pipe installed in the Aso-Sannai Pit around 1900.
It was about 15 meters tall.
Without using generators such as fans, ventilation was achieved with the help of steam emitted from the steam pump in the pit.
In the circle on the left side of the painting, you can see a curtain hung to control air flow.
