This painting shows a couple of coal mine carpenters called "Shikurikata", building a wood frame in the drive way.
The man on the right is making a wedge. Once they became skilled enough to make good wedges,
they were considered experienced Shikurikata.
The wood frame illustrated in this painting was called Myoto-waku, or a coupled frame.
It was installed in extended drive ways.
