This Atoyama is shouldering a carrying tool called a Sena.
They were used at small sized coal mines where the infrastructure was weak, or even at well-equipped large sized coal mines where the drives from coal faces to the main drive was at an angle.
They had to tilt the front basket at more than a 45 degree angle in order to carry it.
The short stick in her right hand was called a Shumoku.
Carrying of this Sena required great strength and technique that very few female Atoyama had to make full use of it.
