田川地区では8月18日、軍隊が出動し、暴動はおさまりましたが、
当時は10人以上の集合が禁じられていたため、盆踊りもできませんでした。

The rice riot in the district of Tagawa was suppressed by the military on August 18th.
After the riot, gatherings of 10 or more people were prohibited by the government.
Young miners, however, could not resist enjoying the summer festival dance, Bonodori.
So during the dance, people would keep a look out for police and disperse if they saw them.
