立って運ぶわけですから、天井が低い坑内では使えません。
採炭現場から炭車が走る主要坑道まで、40キロ位の石炭を運びます。
主要坑道でも炭車と天井の隙間がないと、カライテボでの積み込み作業はしづらかったようです。
The woman in this illustration is carrying a basket called Karaitebo, used from around 1920.
These Karaitebo, known to hold approximately 40 kilograms,
were only useful in carrying coal in high ceiling drives from workings to levels where mine cars were waiting.
If the space between the top of the coal car and the ceiling of the level was not wide enough, it made it difficult to use these baskets.
