The woman in this illustration is carrying a basket called Karaitebo, used from around 1920.
These Karaitebo, known to hold approximately 40 kilograms,
were only useful in carrying coal in high ceiling drives from workings to levels where mine cars were waiting.
If the space between the top of the coal car and the ceiling of the level was not wide enough, it made it difficult to use these baskets.
